Directive From The TOC Executive

Interim COVID-19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

  • You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
    Within the 14 days preceding the event:
    1. You have not travelled outside of Ontario;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment on- line questionnaire.
  • You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet-up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.
  • You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments
  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

NOTES

  • These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.
  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

So, the random hike generator has picked this bit of a weird route for your evening.

This hike will be on a combination of paved paths, neighborhoods, some single track trails and even through an old cemetery.

This 11 KM will go between North York Centre Station and Sheppard-Yonge Station. For those of you looking for a shorter option, we will pass York Mills Station at about the 5 KM mark.

In terms of hills, I believe there are 3 on this hike.

Sadly, I don't believe that there will be any washrooms on this route.

    Event Directions:

    We'll meet outside the Starbucks at North York Centre Subway Station. The Starbucks is located on the west of Yonge St and on the north side of Mel Lastman Square and across the street from Empress Walk Mall.

    For those driving:

    There is street parking in the area, west of Beecroft Rd

    Or, there's a pay parking lot on the North- East corner at Empress/Park Home and Yonge Street, which is three traffic lights north of Sheppard Ave. Then it's just a short walk to the Starbucks, which is located on the south-west side.

    Please come on time, I'll turn off my phone once the event has begin.

    This hike will occur rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the conditions.
