York U to University Heights (4.5 KM) (6/27/2021)

Directive From The TOC Executive

Interim COVID-19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

  • You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
    Within the 14 days preceding the event:
    1. You have not travelled outside of Ontario;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self-assessment on- line questionnaire.
  • You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet-up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.
  • You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments
  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

NOTES

  • These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.
  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

PLEASE NOTE: If you receive an email that reads "MOVED TO THE WAIT LIST," or don't see you name on the wait list, its because you haven't agreed to the INTERIM TOC COVID-19 Rules.

So, once every few weeks, I get a massage and I'm always tired for about 24 hours after.
However, I still like to get some fresh air and exercise, so this will be just be a short, easy going, slower urban hike.

This 4.5 KM hike will go from York University Station through the Black Creek, down to Finch West Subway Station.

The majority of this hike will be on wide paved trails, but will include walking through the main campus at York University (Y U, Y U)

In terms of hills, there's a climb of about 20 meters out of the black creek.

There isn't any washroom on this hike, however the York Lanes mall does have washrooms, which are across from the station.

For those of you looking for a good mask to wear while hiking, you can find the one I use, 'here from Amazon'.

For anyone looking for assistance to get back to your car if you left it at York University Station, I'd be willing to make the 2 KM walk back with you.

PLEASE NOTE THAT LINE 2 IS CLOSED BETWEEEN KIPLING & JANE THIS WEEKEND

    So, we'll meet outside the north exit of York University Station.
    For those exiting from the subway, after passing through the presto gates, take the exit to the right and climb the stairs/escalator to find me.

    York University Station is located on Line 1, 3 stops south of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre & 1 stop north of Finch West.

    For those of you driving, the address for the station is 120 Ian MacDonald Blvd. There's a parking lot just off of York Boulevard, just west of Keele.
