Hilton Falls Loop (25 KM) (2/8/2020)

NOTE: THE CARPOOL DEPARTURE TIME IS 9:00 AM FROM SHEPPARD WEST STATION PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PASSENGER PICKUP AREA HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY RELOCATED TO THE COMMUTER PARKING LOT AREA, SO WE'LL JUST MEET OVER THERE

This is my 7th time coordinating this longer 25 KM hike which incorporates parts of the Bruce Trail as well as the Hilton Falls Side Trail.

This is an intermediate hike that involves some hills, uneven terrain and probably some muddy areas.

The scenery includes some great views from the top of the escarpment as well as Hilton Falls

Please bring a lunch and at least 1-2 Litres of water. We will stop for breaks, but there will not be any drop offs. We'll stop near the waterfall in Hilton Falls Conservation Area for lunch. In the past they've had a campfire going. So marshmallows, anyone?

If you cannot walk the entire distance, please do not sign up for this hike.

Note: There are no washroom facilities at this hike.

I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice. You can find the pair I use, 'here from Amazon'.

DRIVERS, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE ANSWER THE CARPOOL QUESTION REGARDING THE AMOUNT OF PASSENGERS YOU CAN TAKE IN YOUR CAR!!! If this is not completed, you will be moved to the wait list, until I get an answer.

For those choosing to just meet at the event, please come on time, because we will not wait for you if you are late.

I’ve set the maximum event count at 1 as I don’t want to add anyone to the event until I have enough carpool drivers to accommodate passengers. I will try accommodate 12-16 people.

    Event Directions: Leaving Sheppard West - take the Allen Road south to the 401.

    -Travel west along the 401 to Regional Rd 25. Travel, which is approximately 42 km. Regional Rd 25 is exit #320

    Travel north on Regional Rd 25 for approximately 7.8, until you reach 15 Side Road. NOTE: It should be the fifth traffic light north of the 401.

    Turn left onto 15 Side Road.

    LOOK FOR PARKING LOT ON LEFT. Their a Bruce Trail markings on the back of a yellow diamond sign illustrating where the trail goes. The entrance is literally about 200 meters west of Regional Rd, 25.
