PROPER ICERS ARE MANDATORY FOR THIS HIKE.
If your icers have the metal spirals (such as Yaktrax), throw them out.
Proper icers for icy trails must have sharp metal points to dig into the ice.
If you don't have proper icers, get some.
If the trails are icy, without ICERS you might fall on your face or slide into a tree and require a trip to the hospital!
Please do not show up for the hike without PROPER ICERS
See the notes at the bottom of this page for icer type information
Hopefully I have made my point!

With the great cold weather we had recently, there will be some excellent ice formations on the beach.
Let's hike along the bottom of the Scarborough Bluffs starting and ending at the Doris McCarthy Trail head.
We will be on the beach which means sand, snow, ice, driftwood logs and a couple of rocky sections to negotiate

We will

  • start at Doris McCarthy Trail head
  • walk down to the shoreline
  • walk along the bottom of the Scarborough Bluffs
  • pass thru Bluffer's Park
  • have lunch somewhere when we get hungry
  • turn around, go back to the Doris McCarthy Trail head
