Itinerary:

The terrain is variable, hilly with rocky sections. Distance is about 16 km, pace is 4- 4.5 km/h. Great lookout spot for lunch, highlight is passing through the keyhole.

This hike is suitable for intermediate hikers and fit beginners. It is not suitable for hikers who like to walk at a slow pace.

We will meet at the Devil's Glen Provincial Park, start off with a climb up the escarpment past the Devil's Glen Ski area and into the Nottawasaga Bluffs Conservation Area, take the Keyhole Side Trail passing through small crevices and narrow openings in the rock, visit the bluffs, and take the Mad River Side Trail along the Mad River back to our starting point.

On the way back, there's an option for stopping at Mylar and Loretas for refreshments or food.

Everyone starts on the wait list, passengers will be added as drivers become available. Members willing to drive and members with favourable attendance records may get priority on the wait list.

PRECAUTIONS AGAINST TICKS

Wear long pants. Tuck your shirt into your pants, and pull your socks over your pant legs. Wear light coloured clothing to spot ticks more easily. Use bug spray containing DEET or Icaridin on your skin and clothing. Avoid tall grass.

Check yourself for ticks immediately after the event, you can ask me for help for removal. When you get home, shower and do a full body check, if you find a tick, remove it with tweezers. If a tick is attached to your skin for less than 24 hours, your chance of getting Lyme disease is negligible.

For more information, see Ticks
