Itinerary:
It's been a rather hot summer thus far, so let's cool ourselves off in the best way I can think of: with gelato! ... after a hike of course.

We'll meet at Victoria Park Station and follow this route:

- west along the Taylor Creek Trail
- south along the Don River Trail
- up the hill on Pottery Rd (gotta earn it!)
- south through some neighbourhood side streets to Chester Station
- head to a nearby gelato place (optional)

I'll be heading to a local gelato place after the hike, but this part of the event is optional. They have dozens of flavours as well as coffee and other treats, so even if gelato isn't your thing, you might still find something to your liking.

Route Rundown:
Distance: Approximately 9km (according to Google)
Pace: About 4.5 - 5 km/h, a fairly leisurely pace
Expected Time: 2 - 2.5 hours + gelato time
Trails: Almost all paved trails and sidewalks
Terrain: Some rolling sections and one big hill near the end

There are no washroom facilities at or near Victoria Park Station, however, we will take a washroom break about 30 minutes into the hike. There are no other facilities along the trail, so after this break you will have to wait until we arrive at the gelato place.

Surprisingly, there are no scheduled TTC subway closures this weekend.

Please plan to arrive before the posted start time, we will be leaving immediately at 1:30pm. I will turn my phone off once we begin, so any calls or messages will likely not be returned until the end of the hike. This hike will go forward rain or shine or snow. A high risk of a thunderstorm (80%+) 24 hours prior may result in postponement or cancellation.

Required Items to Bring:

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Victoria Park Station is on the Bloor-Danforth Subway (also known as Line 2) located on Victoria Park Ave a few blocks north of Danforth Ave. There is a commuter parking lot at the station where you can park for free if you are driving. We will meet inside the main entrance outside the fare gates. Look for me with a Blue Jays cap and black backpack.
