Itinerary:

Spend a weekend in the rustic luxury of the Wolf Den bunkhouse or in one of their detached cabins. Algonquin Park and all its wintry charms is only a few minutes away. More information and pictures of the Wolf Den can be found at: http://www.wolfdenbunkhouse.com.

Ski and snowshoe equipment can be rented from nearby Algonquin Outfitters.

This should be a great weekend to be outdoors, and the Wolf Den is a wonderful place to return to after a day of snowshoeing and skiing with its fireplace, hot showers, sauna, fully-equipped kitchen, etc.

Please note that many of the rooms we have reserved are semi-private ie. you will be sharing with other TOCers. However, we do have some single rooms with double beds (see details below).

Note, too, that we will be sharing many of the facilities (kitchen, sauna, fireplace, etc.) with other guests. It will be fun, though--think an Austrian ski chalet from the 1950s (ok, I've never skied in Austria, but I did once see a Gidget Goes to the Alps movie....)

Please make your initial payment to the club treasurer. This will reserve a spot for you on the trip.

Required Items to Bring:
Warm clothing, backpack and water container, food (this means ALL food ie. lunches, snacks and dinner for Saturday night as their will be no organized communal dinner on this outing).
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Musical instruments , alcohol (well, I'm going to bring some...), bathing suit (for the sauna--this isn't Finland!), personal toiletries.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Go north on Hwy 400; at Barrie, go northeast on Hwy 11; at Huntsville, go east on Hwy 60; you'll see the Wolf Den on the right-hand side of the road just past Oxtongue Lake, but before you reach the Algonquin Park gates.
Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):520Km
Carpool Departure Time: N/A
Carpool Location:   Log in for location
Carpool Directions:   Log in for directions
Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $134.16 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Thursday, November 21, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:
If you are a couple and wish a private room with a double bed, there are a few of those available at the Wolf Den at no extra cost. Just let the organizer know so that he can put you in there (and the sooner you let him know, the better your chances .....).
