Gallery Visit + Hike


This trip combines a visit to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, a short stroll in its Sculpture Garden and hiking to the Kortright Centre and back. McMichael gallery not only has a great permanent collection including works of the Group of Seven but also changing temporary exhibitions of outstanding Canadian artists.

CARPOOL DEPARTURE Kipling subway station passengers' pick-up, Sunday December 3, 9:15 AM.
DISTANCE 12 - 14 km (to the Kortright Centre for Conservation and back probably following a different trail)
PACE Ca 4 km/hour. No dropouts. Please make sure that you can keep up with hiking the distance without slowing down a lot or repeatedly stopping. We will take a break for lunch and have couple of stops to take photographs.
TRAIL DETAILS We will hike as a group Humber Valley trails through a partly rugged terrain of mixed hardwood forest. .
GALLERY BEFORE the hike we will visit the gallery for approximately 2 hours and have a lunch break over there (probably indoor).
HIGHLIGHTS Gallery visit (permanent collection and the current exhibition of works by Alex Janvier), stroll in the sculpture garden outside of the gallery and hiking through the Humber Valley to the Kortright Centre for Conservation.

  • -Cash or credit card to pay at the gallery for your admission
  • -rain gear, hat, mitts and appropriate clothing for the weather.
