Itinerary:
***IMPORTANT PLEASE READ***
This is a combination Culture/Urban Hike event, so please be aware that there will be roughly 5km-6km of walking involved in this event, however, we will be walking at a very leisurely pace and taking 15-20 breaks along the way.

The story behind the 416 Project:

A short time ago, some mysterious paintings began turning up in Swansea attached to hydro poles depicting nearby ordinary objects like fire hydrants, manhole covers, street signs, etc. It was soon discovered these were the work of local artist Jorge Molina and part of his 416 Project. Over the next few months, 416 of these 6" x 6" paintings will be installed in 35 neighbourhoods throughout the city. To date they have turned up in Swansea, Bloor West Village, the Beach, Leslieville, Upper Beaches, and the Annex. It is an ambitious, yet simple project that I think deserves some attention.

We will meet near Jane Subway Station (see below for directions) and go for a very leisurely walk around Swansea and Bloor West Village to check out as many of the paintings in the area as we can. I'll bring the map with me and have a rough idea of where to go so that we can see as many paintings as possible, but the route isn't set in stone. After an hour and a half or so when it starts to get dark we will head to either Runnymede or Jane Subway Station and call it a night. The entire walk will be on sidewalks and side streets, so you don't need any fancy hiking boots, just some comfortable walking shoes.

Required Items to Bring:
A mild to extreme appreciation of art
Weather appropriate clothing

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take the subway to Jane Station on the Bloor- Danforth Subway (also known as Line 2). Follow the signs to the Jane Street exit. Exit the station and head south (to the left) to the corner of Jane & Bloor. Cross Jane St and look for a fountain in front of the Arbor Memorial Building at the northwest corner of the intersection (the building houses the Humber Cinema). We'll meet at the fountain, look for me with a plain brown ballcap.

If you are driving, there are two Green P lots just east of Jane Station (Bloor & Armadale, Bloor & Willard) and two Green P lots just west on Riverdale Gardens. All four are within a few blocks of the meeting point.
