Itinerary:
Starting in Elora, we will ride in an easterly direction along a well-maintained railtrail as far as the village of Hillsburgh (39 kms). Upon our arrival in Hillsburgh, we will stop for some lunch. We will then ride back along the same railtrail to Elora, our point of origin. The total length of the ride will be about 78 km.

If you register for this event, please ensure that you are capable of completing a 78km ride, and that you can maintain a speed of at least 15 km per hour.

Each participant must wear a bike helmet, and must carry a spare tire tube and tire repair kit. If you do not have these things, you should purchase them at a local bike store. Each participant should also ensure that his/her bike has recently been tuned up. If your bike needs servicing, have it serviced before the date of the ride.

Once we are back in Elora, we will end the day with a drink in the Old Mill Pub, a cozy place which has great views overlooking the Grand River.

Required Items to Bring:
Main items: bike, suitable clothing and raingear, water and lunch, spare tire tube, basic bicycle repair kit.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
We need more cars and bike racks (or vehicles which can take bikes) if we are to expand the size of the group. If you have any of the above, please bring them (and let the organizers know that in advance).

Whether 9 people can actually participate in the event is contingent on whether there are enough cars going that can take both participants and their bicycles. Therefore, if you can carry additional passengers/bicycles with your vehicle, it is important for you to make this known when you sign-up. I will try to ensure that everyone is accommodated, on a first come, first serve basis.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Go west on the 401 to exit 295; take Highway 6 north past Guelph. When you get to Elora, the access point to the trail is found just south of the Colborne St. and Gerrie Rd. intersection, on the east side of the road (the parking lot is not well market but it is very close to the intersection).

More detailed instructions on where to meet in Elora will be given to drivers.
Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):240Km
Carpool Departure Time: 8:00 AM
Carpool Location:   Log in for location
Carpool Directions:   Log in for directions
Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $61.92 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Saturday, May 11, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Notes:
If this trip is full but you would like to come, please put your name down on the Waiting List. As we get more vehicles and bike racks, we will expand the size of the group.
