Canoe the Kawartha Highlands (9/15/2007)

Itinerary:
From the Long Lake access point, we'll canoe through Long Lake and then portage 540 meters into Buzzard Lake. We'll find a nice site there, camp overnight and return on the next day--all in all, not a bad way to spend a fall weekend.

Required Items to Bring:
Overnight camping gear: tent, sleeping bag, mattress. Details to follow, especially as regards tent and canoe-sharing.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From Peterborough, follow Hwy 28 north past Burleigh Falls. A few kms after Woodview, take the gravel road on the left signposted Long Lake. Go to the end of this road and meet in the parking lot of Long Lake Lodge.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $87.72 (calculated at total Km * $0.258, effective Friday, May 10, 2024). This is based on $0.08/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Your event coordinator will confirm exactly how much money is required from each person.

Cost Includes:You are responsible for renting your own canoe, paddles and lifejackets. Details to follow. Count on spending betwen $30 to $40 each for the weekend on this. Food will cost another $15 or $20. Add the carpool on to that and you're looking at a max of about $80 for the two days.
