Itinerary:

This is an “in and out” hike is in the Wilderness Section of the Ganaraska Trail, located in the Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park. This area offers great views. Along the way, we will traverse forest, ravines, beaver dams and lakes.

We will be heading to the Devil's Lake Access point and will aim to hike 9km, trail conditions permitting, before heading back to the cars through the same route (18km total).

Participants must be able to hike at a minimum of 4 km/hour pace on difficult terrain to come on this hike. The terrain is rugged and in some places very strenuous. Note that there will be some beaver dam crossings; hikers must be prepared for wet feet. It is also noted the trail could be poorly marked at some points (it is not unusual in the wilderness section for trail markers to be vandalized and moved); so the group should stay together to avoid individuals getting lost in the forest. Given the remoteness and lack of alternate access points, there will be no dropouts.

Mosquitoes and blackflies are expected, so participants need to be prepared to deal with them. There are no facilities in the park, so water, food and any other necessities should be carried from home.
