Itinerary:

Winter is here! Let’s ease into the season, and the snow, with a evening hike in High Park.

We will be walking at a moderate pace of 4.0 km/hr. on the trails of High Park & Lakeshore – some paved and some dirt. We will walk about 8 km in 2 hours (or less).

Let’s meet at Keele subway station just inside the doors facing west toward Keele Avenue (which is called Parkside south of Bloor). We’ll walk together to enter the park from its northeast corner.

We’ll follow the trails and roads south along the east side of the park, past the playground and zoo. Then we’ll cross the highway south to the Lakeshore Trail.

After our stroll by the lake, we’ll return to High Park and the calmer waters (and ducks and swans) of Grenadier Pond. We’ll curve along the park’s west side, then up through the West Ravine Trails. Finally, we’ll cross some open fields, a patch of forest and voila! We’ll be back at the northeast corner near Keele Station.
