Scarborough Bluffs + Doris McCarthy + Guildwood 22.5k (12/20/2014)

Itinerary:

Let's hike along the bottom of the Scarborough Bluffs starting from the Doris McCarthy Trail head.
22.5 km along a mix of sandy and rocky beach, gravel, paved and dirt paths, most likely a few muddy, snowy and icy sections.

DISTANCE - 22.5km

PACE - about 5.0 km/h

DIFFICULTY - D4 - there will be a few steep difficult ascents and descents. along the beach we will encounter some logs, rocks and boulders to negotiate

Don't get left behind! Please arrive early, we will start promptly, and I will turn off my cell once we begin hiking.

This is the route we will take.

  • start at Doris McCarthy Trail head
  • south to the beach
  • east along the beach to Guildwood Park
  • ascend, loop the park, then back to the beach
  • continue east to Lower Highland Creek Park
  • retrace our route to the starting location
  • lunch break will be somewhere on the beach

If coming by transit, allow lots of time to get there on time.

BY TRANSIT: Take the 102 Bus from Warden Station. (I got this info from google maps. you should confirm TTC routes and schedules)

BY CAR: Park on a side street near the start of the hike.

Although I am not crazy about hiking with lightning flashing all around me!
