Finch to Lawrence - The Hard Way 22 k (12/6/2014)

Itinerary:

DISTANCE - 22 km

PACE - pretty quick - about 5.5 km/h

DIFFICULTY - D4 - there will be a few steep ascents and descents. pace will be pretty quick

This hike will be along a mix of paved, gravel and dirt paths.

As the crow flys, it is only 6.5 km, but we will be taking the longer, more, uh, scenic route!

We'll start at Finch Subway Station, and end at Lawrence subway station.

Don't get left behind! Please arrive early, we will start promptly, and I will turn off my cell once we begin hiking.

This is the route we will take.

  • Start at Finch Subway Station
  • south to York Cemetery
  • thru Earl Bales
  • thru Don Valley Golf Course (golf season is over!!)
  • thru Hoggs Hollow
  • south to Edwards Gardens
  • Wilket Creek park -> Sunnybrook Park
  • west through more parks
  • end at Lawrence subway station

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Finch Subway Station is on the Yonge- University subway line. It is the terminal station at the very north end on the Yonge subway line.
We will meet at the passenger pick and drop off Kiss 'N Ride which is on the WEST side of Yonge St. NW corner of Yonge St + Hendon Ave
If you see a whole bunch of GO buses and TTC buses you are on the wrong side of Yonge St.

Look for me with an ORANGE whistle on my backpack.

If you are driving, there is free TTC parking on weekends and statutory holidays.

Enter Finch West Parking Lot from the west side of Yonge Street, just north of Hendon Road; or from the north side of Hendon Road, just west of Yonge Street. Capacity is 1,552 spaces.
