INTRO TO IMPROV COMEDY

PLEASE READ THIS IN FULL AND DO NOT SIGN UP UNLESS YOU ARE 100% ABLE TO ATTEND :)

This is a fun class for TOC members, where we will be introduced to simple concepts used in improv comedy, (such as the power of saying ‘yes’, being positive, and support) - that are also helpful in our everyday professional and personal lives. It's a great way to learn to think on your feet too! Improvisation Comedy involves one or more actors making things up as they go along. They may start out by taking a suggestion from the audience (perhaps a location or a career) and immediately act out a sketch based on that suggestion.

Our class will run 90 minutes + then those who want to can head across the street to Allen's for some food and laughs about our experience!

INSTRUCTOR: Our instructor will be Ralph MacLeod, the founder and Artistic Director of Black Swan Comedy. Ralph has been training improvisers for over a decade and several of his former students can be seen on film, TV, and television commercials. Many have gone on to work professionally at Second City in Chicago and Toronto. Ralph also works as a corporate trainer and his list of clients have included Bell, Xerox, University of Toronto, the National Advertiser Benevolent Society, and several more. Ralph was previously the co-founder, workshop director, and general manager of the Bad Dog Theatre Company. He oversaw the Bad Dog's growth from a fledgling group into the second- largest improv training centre in the country.

NO SHOWS: This is an informal class so I'm not collecting money in advance. However! We must have a minimum of 10 people, so please be considerate of everyone and sort out your plans in advance. If you drop out last minute (i.e. day before) for whatever reason you may be inconveniencing not just me but also your fellow TOC participants and the instructor Therefore, anyone who does will not just get a No Show, you will also be banned from coming on any further events I run. Please, please, please only sign up if you are coming for sure!

FYI - The club has rules about guests. If you want to bring a guest, that's awesome - please make sure they have signed up as a club member and are on the event list.
