Itinerary:
Sunday, September 30 is Bruce Trail Day!

This hike is aimed at Bruce Trail newbies, however, everyone is welcome to join. We’ll hike sections of the Silver Creek Conservation Area, which is not one of the areas that the BT is organizing an event that day (so I’m hoping it won’t be too crowded there). We’ll take in 2 full side trails, parts of the main trail, and then short cut via a sideroad back to the parking lot, where we will get a stunning view of an old stone bridge and a shallow waterfall.

We will go at a moderate pace (~4 km/hr) since this hike is geared towards those new to the Bruce trail. The hike length is 11 km. And although I want to introduce you to the Bruce Trail itself, you should already be capable of walking 11 km nonstop.

The end of September should be an amazing time to take in the BT. The fall colours will be out, it’s good mushroom season, and the bugs will be virtually gone!

To sum up:

  • Hike length: 11 km
  • Hike speed: ~4 km/hr
  • The hike will go RAIN or SHINE. Don’t sign up unless you’re weather-proof!
  • Drivers on the wait list may be given priority
Also note that I purposely made the car pool time quite late so that people can use the subway to get to Downsview. That said, we are leaving ON TIME, so you should be at Downsview early so that you don’t get left behind. In addition, anyone cancelling within 24 hours of the start time will receive a no show, no exceptions.
