Itinerary:
To me, this is as much a quintessentially Canadian experience as any other: venturing onto frozen lakes in search of food.

We will be renting ice shacks from Yellow Huts of Gilford ON.
The fishing is mainly for Perch, which are small, plentiful, and good for eating.
All transportation, heat, and live bait is included.
No additional equipment is needed. I will provide tip-ups and basic tackle. A rag is a good idea if you like your clothing.
Pack a bag lunch with beverages, but stovetop cooking is possible on the propane heaters.
Dress for extreme cold, in layers. Outside of the huts is complete exposure on open ice which you will have to cross to reach other facilities. Otherwise, the huts can get hot, as the heating method is simple.
Weather.

Adult participants (between 18 & 65) are required to carry a valid Resident Sport Fishing Licence.
A one-year Conservation licence and Outdoors Card application will cost $20. A one-day fishing licence is $10.
Both are available at Service Ontario Kiosks or from the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Fishing without a licence is a serious offence with heavy fines that can be applied to the group.
