Itinerary:
Remember when you were a kid and your family went strawberry picking? Wow, you probably ate more than went into the bucket in those days!

But sadly, today's strawberries are # 3 on the most pesticide-laden produce in the US. (See this chart). That's up 3 spots from #6 in 2009! Yuck.
We're all trying to eat healthy, and eating organic is a great start. Not only that, but strawberries themselves are on the 129 "world's healthiest foods" list, which states: "Strawberries' unique phenol content makes them a heart-protective fruit, an anti-cancer fruit, and an anti-inflammatory fruit, all rolled into one."
And if it's a sunny day, be prepared to get your mega-dose of vitamin D!

In addition to all this amazing goodness, this family-run farm bakes fresh organic strawberry pies every weekend in their own wood-fired outdoor oven. I had one last year, and it IS to die for.

Please note that it's not actually cheaper to pick your own, but it's much more satisfying! When you work for your food, you do enjoy the rewards so much more. I will endeavour to find and post the actual prices, but previously they were around $20 for a 6qt basket PYO. There's also the pies, other baked goods, organic meats, and other locally grown organic produce!

Before you sign up, please be warned that Ontario strawberries are a lot smaller than those giants that we get from California. But we'll be going on the 2nd day of operations, so hopefully the pick will be good!

Please see their website for more info.

If you are parking at York Mills, you must pay $4 (which will save you from getting a $30 parking ticket)
