Itinerary:
So here I am, unable to sit down and properly plan the trips I’ve been wanting to take on because work this, and work that and blah blah blah. Phoey I say. The rat race has caught up to me once again and the only responsible thing to do is retreat to the real world, and re-energize with some good ‘ol Algonquin energy. I’ll be heading out this weekend to the Park for a little hiking, but mostly just to get away from the city. Apologies for the short notice, this was just decided last night. If anyone wants to join, you are very welcome. I plan to hit the highland trail and either complete the short loop around Provoking Lake, or spend a little more relax / contemplation time at the campsite and not complete the loop. Right now, im more in the mood to relax but we can go over it in more detail once I know who will be joining me. This will not be a difficult trip. This is in a “High Maintenance” section of the park, which generally means that trails are well cut, well marked, and well cleared. Campsites are well identified and well maintained. I have not yet been on this loop (infact this will be the first time in Algonquin without a canoe!) so expect to explore a little. The total loop is about 13km as per Algonquin map Scale, and we’ll have two days to complete it should we chose to. That will equate to about 4 hours a day of hiking at a decent pace. I do not expect the terrain to be very challenging.
