HILLS OF THE BEACHES (12++ KM) (3/27/2012)

Itinerary:

HILLS OF THE BEACHES

There aren't that many places in Toronto where you can find good hills. BUT... There is a small pocket of steep streets at the far east end of the Beaches just before the Scarborough Bluffs that are not too bad...

We will meet at Victoria Park Station + walk south to the Lake + then walk up + down a number of these hilly streets.

Everyone will go at their own pace, with one small twist, known as the Maya principle. (If any of you know some if the TOC dogs you'll guess where I'm going with this). To keep our group together, when the fast section of our group reach the top of each hill they will go back down and repeat it. So if you are super awesome speedy, you could be repeating every hill + hiking 20+ km in total. It's up to you, but no stopping!! Those who want to can go for a pint when we are done, otherwise the hike will end back at Victoria Park Station. As this is a D3 hike priority will go to new members and regular D3 hikers.

No Shows: If you can't make it please remove yourself from the event by the cuttoff time (2pm). Anyone cancelling after that will receive a No Show , as well as a Whiney Wimp Out Waspberry from the group ... !

WAITING LIST: If you are a new member I will try to get you on an event. Otherwise, to help make the waiting list fair to everyone I will give priority to people who regularly show up when they sign up.


Required Items to Bring:

Good footwear. We will be on paved sidewalk the whole time.

Water 1-2 L and snacks

Flashlight or headlight

Notes:

This hike may be cancelled if it is raining really badly.

Please arrive on time, I will turn my cell phone off once we begin hiking.
