Are you ready for another real Canadian outdoor adventure?
The challenge on this adventure will be to covering the planned distance of ~20km/day and the cold November night. I expect a light dusting of snow at this time of the year. But there might be more. So come prepared. The focus will be on light weight backpacking techniques. Some of us we'll be using tarp shelters. Winter weight sleeping bag and pad. Cooking over the open fire at night. Dress in layers. Hiking foot wear with icers (if the trails are snow covered). This trip is open to experienced hikers with overnight late fall early winter camping experience. You need to be able to be confortable bushwhacking on this adventure. You need to be able to hike on trails at around 4-5 km/hr and bushwhack at 2.5 km/hr. We will be traversing typical Canadian Shield terrain. This trip will cover some old and new terrain. Pre-trip details will be worked out via email and phone calls. Have a look at last years trip in the same area. This trip was voted as the best early winter backpacking trip form the last few years by me. It was loaded with great weather, high exploration and great members. We had a chance to watch the first pond ice growing as the day turned to night. Check out the photos. | |||||||
