Itinerary:
This is a relatively short hike that takes you in a loop along the edge of the escarpment affording great views of the surrounding countryside below. Hiking on 5 km of cliff edge and forest trails with interpretive lookout and connections to Bruce Trail. We may do some of the Bruce trail sections within the Conservation area if time permits.

Mount Nemo Conservation Area has one of the best cliff ecosystems on Ontario’s Niagara Escarpment. Rich green ferns blanket limestone boulders scattered among old growth forests that are alive with jewel like birds. Crevice caves and ancient cedars, a thousand years old, can be seen all along the meandering cliff edge trail.

An interpretive lookout with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside lets visitors know why this natural environment park is worth protecting.

PLEASE NOTE: Proper hiking shoes or boots and appropriate clothing is a REQUIREMENT for this hike. There are a few hilly sections that will require boots with a good grippy soul. There may be mud or puddles on the trail.

The hike will be around 2.5 hours in length and it's a great hike for first timers, or for those of you that enjoy a nice easy pace. We will hike as a group at average pace of 3.5 - 4 km/hr. We will pause frequently to admire the scenery and snap a few photos. The 'gazelles' - ie - those who want to walk faster and sprint ahead of the group should not sign up, as you will only get frustrated.

The event coordinator may bring a medium size dog on this hike. Note that any dogs on this event are to be on a leash.

Hike will run rain (moderate) or shine. Come prepared. Trails may be slippery if it rains, so wear appropriate footwear.

Drop outs from the event within 24 hrs of the event, without a good reason, will get an automatic 'no show.'
