Itinerary:
"The average Bridle Path home is a detached two storey home with four bedrooms; the average sale price for such a home in 2007 was $4,667,500."1

Well, that might have been the average then, but there is a house for sale right now with an asking price of over $26 million. That's right, it's a little over $1M per room. So why not spend a Sunday afternoon* oogling the mansions of North York?

We will start at Lawrence Subway Station and end at Eglinton Subway station. The first "half" of the hike will be mostly roads, however, the second "half" will be mainly on trails. Yonge and Eglinton offers up lots of great places to eat afterwards. :) Those interested can get a bite to eat with me when we're done.

Please read before signing up!
  • I might allow for a little bit of picture taking of the mansions, but other than that we'll be hiking at a steady pace. Please don't sign up unless you can hike at 5.5 - 6 km per hour for 4 hours. Not sure how fast that is? See below.
  • We won't be stopping for lunch, so bring snacks that you can eat while walking.
  • There are not many convenient places to drop off, and I would prefer that if you sign up that you intend to stick with the group for the whole hike.

Hiking speed: if you don't have a gps or other type of pedometer to determine what your speed is, then try to get onto a treadmill. The speed of the treadmill is shown in miles per hour. So if the treadmill is set to 4.0, you'll walk 4 miles in an hour. To convert to km / hr, multiply the speed by 1.6. So 3.5 - 3.75 miles/hr = 5.5 - 6.0 km /hr.
But remember: walking outside up and down hills and slopes is harder than walking on a flat treadmill.
