Itinerary:
This event is for the curious at heart. It's for those of us who, while out on a hike, slow down and get distracted at the site of that non-human footprint in the snow. What is it? What was it doing? Which direction was it travelling in? When… was it just a minute ago?

Animal tracking is an art that can be learned, over time and with patience! It's lots of fun to speculate these questions when out on your own, but what happens when you add an experienced tracker (or two!) to the mix? Not only will you have even more fun, but you'll also be more productive, as you're taught and guided through the process of how to read animal tracks. And once you understand some of the theory behind deciphering tracks, it makes future hikes that much more exciting!

Ben of the Wolf Den Hostel and Nature Retreat, along with some other experienced trackers, has invited the TOC to join them on a tracking hike where they'll help us find tracks and figure out the answers to some of those burning questions.

From the P.I.N.E. website:
"Come out for a fun afternoon of learning to read and understand the stories of nature through the art of tracking! This monthly get together is run by the P.I.N.E Project (Primitive Integrated Naturalist Education), a Toronto based not for profit organization dedicated to inspiring deeper nature connections."
"Love is in the air- and we're not talking about cupid! Come explore one of Toronto's most vibrant parks as we search for signs of wildlife activating during their season of rest to look for mates"

NOTE: The tracking event itself will run from 2-5. After that, those of us interested will stop for a bite to eat on the way back to the carpool location. Location: TBA. I will need to make a reservation for a group our size, so I'll need to know who is joining us for food/drinks ahead of time. Please indicate in the NOTES if you are / are not, and I will confirm a few days before the event.

Please note: This event is also open to the public, it is not a TOC-only hike. However, we were expressly invited and we do have 15 reserved places. If anyone cancels at the last minute that means someone else didn't get to go and I will be marking no-shows for cancellations of less than 24 hours notice.
