Itinerary:
The day before Hallowe'en…. So now you're obviously thinking…"I am already drowning in chocolate! I have bags of it at home. And I just know that I bought too much, and there will be some left over. Is it possible that I could go into chocolate overdose? WHAT is she thinking??"

But to this I say to you: Do you really want to have your fill of the same old tired peanut butter cups, snickers and mars bars? But that's just child's play! Give it away to the kids and let their parents deal with the sugar highs. You're an adult now, and you deserve The Good Stuff. We're talking quality chocolate. Specialty chocolate shops. No offence, but no Laura Secord stops on this hike. Close your eyes and imagine these flavours melting in your mouth: chai tea chocolate; white chocolate with lavender; ice wine truffles; espresso crisp truffle; turtle delight fudge! (It really does make you forget all about that common drug store so-called chocolate, doesn't it?)

Toronto (it turns out) is home to quite the array of quality chocolate shops, but they’re not all huddled together in one spot. So we will just have to make a hike out of it. Here's the plan: Buy a chocolate, hike a couple of km to burn it off, buy another chocolate, hike some more… you get the picture! It’s the ultimate guilt-free, gourmet, chocolate day!

And after a grueling day of urban concrete hiking, those who are interested will retire to a nearby restaurant for a drink and bite to eat. The newly opened Movenpick at Yonge/Wellington is on route from our last chocolate shop back to Union Station, and offers lots of menu choices.

Here’s the ‘Stuff You Need To Know’:
  • We’ll be hiking ~ 13km at ~ 3.5km/hr (almost 4 hours of hiking)
  • Added time for browsing/purchasing = ~ 2 hours
  • We’ll be visiting about 8-10 shops (plus restaurant)
  • Start: 10:30 AM @ Yonge/Eglinton. Exact meet location will be emailed to signed up participants.
  • End: End of hike: Approx 5PM near Union Stn. End of drinks/food: ??
  • Truffles range from $2 - $3 each. If you plan to buy at least one per store, budget for at least $30.
  • Drop outs are allowed
  • Only sign up if you are willing to hike regardless of the weather!! Not trying to scare you, but the 14-day forecast IS predicting RAIN!
