Itinerary:
It's Toronto International Film Festival time!
2010 marks the 35th anniversary of TIFF (this year running Sept 9 - 19)

TIFF is the world's biggest and most important public (and industry) film festival. And yet, so many Torontonians have never even been to the festival, nor understand how it "works".

Join me on this urban hike as we tour (past, not into) each of the 9 festival theatre venues. As we proceed, I'll explain how the festival works: how, when and where to buy tickets, what a "rush" line is, what the Visa Screening lounge is, plus whatever else pops into my head. I've been volunteering for over 5 years with TIFF, so it's hard to say what crazy stories I'll remember along the way! Oh, like the time I was working on the red carpet at the Eglin and... well, you'll have to come on the hike to hear the rest! ;) The grande finale of our hike will be the TIFF Bell Lightbox. This is the "future home of of the Toronto International Film Festival". It's been years in the making (first announced in 2003, construction began in 2007), it's probably a couple years overdue, and its grand opening is only a few days (Sept 12) before our hike. So, yes, you'll be one of the very first to ever cross its threshold!

Bring your cameras, because you never know...

This will be a nice, short 5km hike. However, because we'll undoubtedly be slowing down in some areas, we will need to pick up the pace a bit in between theatres. Therefore, please be able to hike at a 4.5 km/hr pace comfortably if you want to join us.

If the mood strikes a few of us at the end, we could stop for a drink somewhere before heading to our respective homes.

Please note the hike will proceed rain or shine! Please only sign up if you are willing to hike in the rain!

As an added bonus, I am going to do a draw before the hike start time, for those who sign up, for two film vouchers (two 'winners', one voucher each). These are redeemable for films that are not sold out, or can be used in a rush line.
