The coordinator will try to arrange the carpools in advance and there MAY be the option of going up on Friday night or Saturday morning. (you’ll get a survey regarding dietary & transportation issues and a checklist of suggested things to bring after the cut-off – if you’ve paid)

Tawingo is an old Summer camp where Erik is an Alumnus. The camp has a NO ALCOHOL (or recreational Drug) policy and will be strictly enforced by the coordinator. NOTE: Even as adults the program is like being at Summer Camp again. There will be optional programming (Star gazing, camp fire, bog walk, lots of hiking trails, etc.) to take advantage of, or you can do your own thing. Meal times are the only strict observance and a non-denominational grace is typically sung before each meal. Yes, it is an "old school" inclusive and welcoming atmosphere based on positive esteem building experiences - please respect it.

Tawingo sits on the shore of Lake Vernon on a 200 acre property with numerous hiking trails. The cost includes meals from Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch - a light snack will be available on Friday night.. (Dessert is always served with both Lunch & Dinner - Wahoo!!!).

For the property & trail map and pictures of a typical cabin Click Here.

We will have full access to the property including several cabins that sleep up to 10 (including several in bunk beds), but our plan is to have 6-8 people per cabin depending on the demographic of the group. Tawingo has lots of sporting equipment we can use (mini-putt & tennis courts & baseball diamond on-site).

To make sure everyone has the same expectations of the event, here is a description of the environment & policies from the camp director: The Tawingo Outdoor Centre is a children’s summer camp (Camp Tawingo) adapted for full season use by a variety of groups - from youths to families to adults. We offer economical access to the beautiful Muskoka Region, qualified outdoor leadership and full range of program activities/equipment to enjoy in various seasons. Accommodation is provided in full-service, winterized cabins. On family weekends, we assign one cabin per family. At other times and with other groups, we expect group living in the cabins (8-10 children or 4-6 adults). Visitors are expected to provide their own bedding and toiletries. Food service is served as family-style, fixed menu dining at specific times over the weekend. We provide opportunity for guided outdoor activities as well as personal choices in nature. We welcome individuals and participants who are ready to ‘pitch in’ to the shared responsibilities of group living, table setting and cabin clean-up.

Our reputation as a leader in summer camping across the country with renown beyond our borders is tied inextricably to every group that visits regardless of the time of year. It is for this reason that some of our policies and procedures reflect our historical connection to youth, healthy living and the out of doors. We have a no smoking and no alcohol policy at Camp. In addition, we ask that you leave your pets at home. We ask you to assist in setting tables and maintain your cabin cleanliness while you are with us

The Tawingo experience is somewhere between rustic-camp living and a 4 Star resort weekend, between a barrack of outdoor recruits and an intimate weekend with friends. We promise a memorable visit to our beautiful home. We hope you can join us in the spirit of community and enjoy the best outdoor event that we can create together.
