Itinerary:

Enjoy a weekend of crisp air and fall colours at Clear Lake Farm (CLF), 3.5 hours north of Toronto. Farm owners Otmar and Kordula Fueth are award-winning horse breeders, trainers and riding instructors who specialize in Icelandic horses. These horses are a very hardy, calm-tempered breed developed over 1,000 years from the original Viking horses brought to Iceland. Although they are small, they are very strong and can be fast. Besides their aptitude for covering rough ground and long distances, most have a unique fourth gait in addition to walk, trot and canter/gallop. This is called "tolt", and is very smooth and comfortable to ride.

The cost for this weekend will include 2 days of riding on woodland trails and quiet country roads, all meals at CLF including lunch on the trail, and 2 nights' accommodation in the restored original farmhouse. When not riding, there are ample opportunities for walking on the trails. The farm is on a lake with a small sandy beach, although the water will be quite chilly!

This trip is NOT for total beginners, as each day will involve hours in the saddle. However, you do not have to be an advanced rider or have experience with Icelandic horses in order to participate. You should be comfortable trotting. Our guide will introduce the Icelandic style of riding and will give tips as we ride.

To reserve your place, you must pay a $100 deposit to TOC by the registration cut off date.

Riding helmets are mandatory and will be supplied if you don't own one. All riders must sign the liability waivers provided by CLF.
