Itinerary: | |||||||
We'll pick up the Bruce Trail on 30th Side Road and head through the Boyne Valley Provincial Park to Mulmur Hills (BTC Map Ref: 20). The distance covered will be approximately 15 km. For the most part, the trail will be on broad paths, but there will be steep ascents and descents, and there may still be pockets of snow or ice, so footing may be slippery or heavy at times. We'll pick an suitable spot somewhere along the Boyne River to stop for lunch. Note that this hike will be at a pace of around 4kph. It will also involve an end-to-end car shuttle so there will be no drop-outs. All participants must be able to hike continuously at the stated pace. Bring an extra jacket or sweater to wear at the end of the day while the drivers retrieve the cars. At this time of year, it is likely to be slippery - mud, and rain or snow - so hiking boots with good ankle support are required; anyone showing up at the carpool without proper footwear will be sent home. After the hike, we'll head to The Train Station in nearby Orangeville for a bite to eat. TOC or equivalent experience at this level is required - if you have not completed any D3 TOC hiking events, please indicate your equivalent experience in the notes when you sign up. | |||||||
