Itinerary:

We will depart Saturday morning for Killarney Provincial Park, southwest of Sudbury near the shores of Georgian Bay. We should arrive late in the afternoon, and will set up camp in the main campground at George Lake.

Sunday morning we will head out to the La Cloche Silhouette trail and backpack 10k to our campsite on Heaven Lake. Along the way we will pass lakes, marsh, beaver dams and climb up into the La Cloche Mountains and up The Crack, a famous....you guessed it, crack.....filled with boulders that the trail climbs straight up. The view from the ridges on the top is amazing.

Next day we will backpack further up the La Cloche to Silver Lake campsite. Depending on weather, trail condition and group dynamics we might attempt to climb Silver Peak on Sunday afternoon or Tuesday morning. From Silver Lake we will head back along the trail to Little Superior camp site. On Wednesday we will hike out to the cars and drive back to Toronto.

This trip is open to experienced snowshoeing/campers with cold weather experience that have the proper gear. This portion of the trail is considered very difficult, with numerous steep and rocky sections.

A mandatory pre-trip meeting will be held at Chalker's Bistro (Marlee & Glencairn, 247 Marlee Avenue North York)on Thursday, Dec 10th, 2009 at 7:00pm. The meeting will review personnel and shared gear and other trip details
