Itinerary:

This out and back hike is in the Wilderness Section of the Ganaraska Trail. The Ganaraska wilderness is noted for its roughness and the poorly marked nature of the trail (it is not unusual in the wilderness section for trail markers to be vandalized and moved).

We will be heading to the Victoria Bridge Access point and will aim to hike out 12k (24k total), trail conditions permitting. Along the way, we will traverse the forest, ravines, beaver dams and lakes. If we're lucky, we may see signs of bears, wolves, foxes, or actually see rare five-lined skinks. Note that there will be some beaver dam crossings; hikers must be prepared for wet feet! Due to the rugged terrain, hiking boots are required. A change of shoes and socks is advised for the end of the hike in case of issues at the beaver dams.

Participants must be able to hike at a minimum of 4.5k/hour pace to come on this hike. We will not be waiting for those unable to keep up as it is the responsibility of those coming to ensure they can hike at this pace before joining us.

Our hike will go, rain or shine (and there is a chance of rain). Do not sign up unless you are prepared to go out in the rain.

Attention TTC users! The subway does not start running until 9 am or LATER on Sunday mornings. Please call 393-info or visit www.ttc.ca to be sure that you'll be at the carpool on time!
