Water - Toronto Harbourfront Kayak Paddling and Picnic at Center Island (9/7/2009)

Itinerary:

A day for kayak paddle to improve your skill, to enjoy the harbourfront view and a picnic at the Center Island. This paddle event is for INTERMEDIATE(experienced) paddlers ONLY, NOT a lesson on how to paddle. .

Participants MUST know how to paddle and be able to maintain a steady pace to be able to stay with the group for a 2 hour paddle each way. The harbourfront rental guides will help prepare and watch people as they put in, move around and navigate the waters in the harbor. - anyone who looks wobbly won't be able to paddle with the group.

We'll be out on the water at 10:30 AM and finish around 6:00 PM. Please try to arrive 30 minutes early to sign in, change, prepare your boat, and get onto the water.

We will have a picnic at the Centre Island. Depending on where we dock, we may not be able to purchase any food. So please bring your meal and drinks (non-alcoholic).

People who have their own kayaks are welcome to meet up with us.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Harbourfront Canoe and Kayak Centre is located south of the Rogers Centre (Skydome) right on the edge of Lake Ontario. It is directly south of Queens Quay Yachting on the S.W. corner of Queens Quay W. and Rees St (Robertson Cres.), and are neighbors to the Marine Police Station.

  • By TTC, take the Queens Quay West Street Car (Harbourfront LRT) from underground at Union Station, disembark at the Rees St. (Radisson Plaza Hotel) and walk 10 metres west.

  • Pay parking is available on the N.W. corner of Queens Quay & Rees St.

    Cost Includes:$70 for single person/$85 double person, or 2 stamp/single, 3 stamp/double on the Frequent Paddler Card Members MUST pay and reserve their boats(s)through Harborfront Kayak Centre (HKC). 416-203-2277 Please also contact HKC if you bring your own kayak and ask about any applicable fee.
