Itinerary:
True to form for 2009, Mother Nature is is allegedly gifting Torontonians with 25-35mm of precipitation on Saturday. What better way to spend a rainy day in July than by donning our embarassingly bright raingear and exploring an urban sanctuary - Tommy Thompson Park.

Tommy Thompson Park is uniquely located on a man-made peninsula, the Leslie Street Spit, and offers some great natural habitat and bird viewing opportunities.

We will meet at the park entrance and walk at a moderate pace along the "multi-use trail" (approx. 10km round trip on a paved asphalt path), stopping to explore the lookout points whenever the mood strikes.

PLEASE BE PREPARED TO SPEND A FEW HOURS IN THE RAIN. Don't worry, unless you're a close descendant of the Wicked Witch of the West, you won't melt. The event will only be cancelled in the event of a thunderstorm.

NOTE 1: Tommy Thompson Park has a STRICT no dogs/no pets policy. Sorry!

NOTE 2: This is the coordinator's first visit to Tommy Thompson Park, which may add another element of adventure.
