Itinerary:

This hike will be divided into two hikes. In the morning we will do a short hike to Old Baldy Conservation Area (~3km). Then a short drive to Eugenia(~10km) where we will begin our main hike (~22km).

Old Baldy lookout has breathtaking views of the Beaver Valley. Watch for turkey vultures and hawks. The up draft created by the valley's walls makes it a favourite haunt. We might also see some rock climbers on the cliffs.

We will next drive to Eugenia to start the main hike of the day. We will be following a new section of the Bruce trail just added in 2008. It is known as the Falling Water section. We will be hiking on the Niagara escarpment above the Beaver and Boyne rivers. Our hike will pass by Eugenia and Hogg's Falls.

The hike shouldn't be too technically challenging, but we'll keep it moving at an steady confortable pace of around 4-5km an hour. I rated the hike as a D5 due to the distance only. There are some areas of rough footing, so good footwear is a must. I expect the trail to be muddy from the spring run off. If we are lucky and have good weather, we should have really good views .

This event is for intermediate to experienced hikers.

Don't forget your camera.

Please eat breakfast before the carpool.

Lunch and snacks will be on the trail

We plan to find a resturant for supper in Eugenia or Flesherton area.
