Itinerary:
Seventeen cyclists from the TOC went to Prince Edward County in June of 2008 for some cycling, camping and time at the beach. We had a great time. This year's return trip will occur on the Labour Day Long Weekend. I have booked three campsites at Sandbanks Provincial Park (campsites #296, #293, and #292), and this event can now accommodate up to a maximum of 18 people, so long as there is sufficient car-pooling capacity to transport this many people and bicycles. Therefore, if you have access to a vehicle and you are able to transport bicycles (either inside the vehicle or by way of a bike-rack or hitch), please let me know in the "notes" section when you sign up. That will make my planning of the event easier.

We will be leaving on September 4, 2009, Friday evening, at 6:30 p.m., from the St. George/Bloor Street Subway Station and returning to Toronto on Monday, September 7, 2009, Labour Day, late in the evening.
Prince Edward County is a great area for cycle-touring, and Sandbanks Provincial Park is a great place for camping. Our focus on this weekend will be cycling, and we will cycle at least 60 km per day on each of three consecutive days. You should be able to cycle at an average speed of about 20 km per hour in order to qualify for participation in this event, and you should have done at least a few day-long rides of 50 km or longer prior to registering for this event.

For Prince Edward County, see http://www.pec.on.ca/Welcome.html

For Sandbanks Provincial Park, seehttp://www.ontarioparks.com/english/sand.html#

We must check out of the Campsite at Sandbanks by 2 p.m. on Monday September 7th. When we are not cycling, there may be some opportunities to hike on some of the local trails, or to relax at the beach, in Sandbanks Provincial Park. However, cycling will be our primary focus.

Each member will be responsible for his/her own food and cooking on this event, though we may, of course, share with one another. You must bring your own food and cooking equipment.

Required Items to Bring:
Your own bicycle (in tip-top condition), two spare tire tubes, a basic bicycle repair kit, with tire levers and working tire pump, containers for carrying water (if you do not intend to buy bottled water); tent, sleeping bag, food and cooking equipment for camping.
