Itinerary:
A wilderness area in Canada's largest city? That's right! Not too far from the skyscrapers of downtown Toronto, urban dwellers can see a different landscape where historic farms, century-old trees, peaceful meadows and lush wetlands, await you at your transit stop. Rouge Park is over 47 km2, protecting two National Historic Sites and a variety of ecosystems joining the post-glacial Oak Ridges Moraine, roughly 50 km north of Toronto, and the City's biggest wetland, where the Rouge River empties into Lake Ontario.

Join us for a winter hike along the scenic Rouge River. Your footsteps will follow the path used by Aboriginal peoples and early European settlers. Explore this 200 year old logging route where large trees were cut and floated down the river to the lake, bound for ship building yards in Europe.

After the hike, for those who want to refuel their body with Chinese food, join us for a buffet dinner at the Imperial Buffet.

What will we see on this trail?

• Forest species of plants and animals

• Mature forests with a lush under storey

• Panoramic bluffs view of the Little Rouge Creek and Rouge River valleys.

• Steep grades on trail.

• A mix of forest and meadow views offers a variety of plant and animal life.

• Steep bluffs of the river valleys.

Please note: Steps and steep sections may be slippery during wet or winter weather.

If you are interested in coming for the buffet after the hike, please indicate your interest under "note" on the second page of registration so I can book early reservation for the Imperial restaurant. The name will be under "TOC".
