Itinerary:

Join me for hopefully some lingering fall colors in Hockley Valley! A classic loop combining Bruce Main Trail and side trails. The terrain is hilly and challenging. Distance 24 km, pace ~5 km/h, about 930-950m vert. Map 18 in Bruce Trail guide. You can find a downloadable GPS track here (1) https://fastestknowntime.com/route/hockley-valley-loop-canada or here (2) https://share-backcountry.onxmaps.com/FQyL0dLDRCb. (The latter is my personal map but doesn't have the correct vert b/c OnX doesn't seem to count road elevations.)

Note the distance, pace, and elevation gain! Hikers registering for this event are expected to be experienced & able to hike at a continuous pace of 5 km/h on hilly terrain.

Members willing to drive, regular difficult/advanced hikers, and members with good attendance records will get priority on the wait list.

Note: I always carry icers/microspikes with me starting in fall in case of icy patches. You can purchase good quality icers at MEC, Canadian Tire, and elsewhere. Invest in the ones with bigger spikes like Kahtoola Microspikes, not the ones with wire-wrapped cords or small studs. Given the ups and downs on this hike, trekking poles are also a good idea.
