Itinerary:

So, today's hike is lining up to be the 1300th event I've led with the TOC.
So instead of being my typical indecisive self, I decided to pick a hike going along some of my favorite trails in the Don Valley.

This 8.5 KM hike will travel between Castle Frank & Broadview Station.

The hike will be on a combination of neighbourhood sidewalks, wide gravel paths, some single track dirt trails and even a decommissioned railway track.
Some of the single track dirt trails are mountain biking trails, so they can be pretty muddy & messy this time of the year.
Hiking boots or shoes are recommended.

In terms of hills, to make you as miserable as possible, there should be 4 of at least 50 meters.

I'll stop for a washroom break at Brickworks, located about 2 KM into the hike.

Post hike, if anyone is interested, I'm going to go for a pint/pizza at Factory Girl if you'd like to join me.

I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice.
You can find the pair I use, 'here from Amazon'.

Castle Frank Subway Station is located on the Bloor Subway Line, two stops east of Yonge Station.

Let's meet at the Castle Frank Road Exit. If its cold or wet, then I'll just be inside the station doors.
That exit is the eastern exit from the platform, also the one with the escalator.
If you don't know where the eastern side of the platform is, then follow the direction of the eastbound train.

For those of you driving, Castle Frank Station is located on the north-west corner of Bloor & Castle Frank Road.

In terms of parking, you can park for free
    • on the south side of Mackenzie Avenue, which is located one block north of Bloor, east of Castle Frank Road
    • or the north side of Dale Avenue, located 2 blocks north of Bloor, also east of Castle Frank Road
