Itinerary:

Sometimes when I'm out hiking or walking, I see random mysterious dirt trails leaving the main path and wonder where they go.

Today's hike is going to be more of a experimental route where I try out about 5 new trails I've never been on before.

    These Include
  • The North Shore Connector mountain biking trail in Warden woods (about 1.5 KM in)
  • Denton Pond & Upper Pond Pass near Taylor Creek & Dawes road (about 3.5 KM in)
  • Boomerang, which is a black diamond mountain biking trail, which could potentially be difficult (about 6.5 KM in)
If its raining or wet, I will probably omit this trail as it may be sketchy.
  • The Elephants, which passes by those teeth looking planters near the DVP (about 8 KM in)
  • Finally, the mystery stairs down to Fir Valley (about 14.5 KM in)

Basically, this hike is a way to try out new paths, so it probably won't have the same flow as many of my hikes.
If these new trails work, then great, but if not then I'll know not to do them again.

OTHERWISE:

This 16 KM hike will both start and finish at Warden Station.
However, there will be an option to drop off at Victoria Park Station about 13 KM into the hike, should you either be tired or sick of my ugly face.

The hike will be on a combination of paved park paths, single track dirt trails, sidewalks and grassy fields.

In terms of hills, I don't know the exact number, since this hike is more of an experiment.
My elevation map is suggesting at least 6 hills of 25 meters or more, but I'm not completely sure.

I'll stop for 2 washroom breaks on this hike
The first will be 4 KM in, near the Taylor Creek picnic area.
The 2nd will be in Prairie Drive Park, about 13.5 KM into the hike.

  • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:

We'll meet outside the Warden Avenue exit at Warden Station. To get there, just exit where the collectors booth is and follow the signs for Warden Avenue.
However, if it is cold or wet or if I'm lazy, I'll just be inside the station and just up the stairs.

Warden Station is located on line 2 (Bloor- Danforth), one station west of Kennedy & 12 stations east of Yonge.

For those of you driving, Warden Station has a parking lot on the North-East & South-East corner of St. Clair & Warden and can be accessed from Warden Ave.
