EVENT DETAILS

THE CARPOOL LEAVES KIPLING STATION (SOUTH PARKING LOT) @ 9:30 AM

So, this is my 3rd time leading a hike through the eastern side of Short Hills Provincial Park.
Today's hike will travel along the Bruce Trail and some of the side trails.

Please bring a lunch and at least 1-2 Litres of water.
We'll stop for lunch about 5 KM into the hike beside Decew Falls.

If you cannot walk the entire distance please do not sign up for this hike.

    EVENT STATS
  • Distance: 10.5 KM
  • Terrain: Primarily very muddy trails, both wide and single track trails
  • Trail vs Road: 9 km vs 1.5 km
  • Elevation Range: 60 meters
  • Challenging Climbs of Note: 3 climbs of at least 25 meters, with one climb of at least 50 meters.
  • Largest Climb: 55 meters
  • Washrooms: There will be a washroom located about 3 KM into the hike.
  • Highlights: 'Terrance Falls' & 'Decew Falls'

Those willing to drive, will get first priority on the wait list, should they be needed.
DRIVERS, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE ANSWER THE CARPOOL QUESTION REGARDING THE AMOUNT OF PASSENGERS YOU CAN TAKE IN YOUR CAR!!!

For those of you choosing to meet at the event location, instead of the carpool, please ensure that you come on time

I’ve set the maximum event count at 1 as I don’t want to add anyone to the event until I have enough carpool drivers to accommodate passengers.
I will try accommodate up to 30 people.

I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice.
You can find the pair I use, 'here from Amazon'.

  • $16.00 to $31.00 to cover the cost of the carpool for passengers

    The closest approximate address is 1325 Pelham Rd, St. Catharines - 43°06'31.2"N 79°17'13.7"W

    Please note that my event directions are from Kipling Station

  • Leaving Kipling - Exit the TTC Parking Lot and turn turn onto Kipling Avenue for 2 KM.
  • Take the Gardner Expressway WEST and follow it WEST. Please note that you have to merge over 2 lanes very quickly to stay on the QEW to continue west.
  • Follow the QEW approximately 91 km and exit at Highway 406 (Exit 49).
  • Follow the 406 for 3 KM and exit at Fourth Avenue and go right (WEST).
  • At the second traffic light, turn left onto Louth Street (Regional Road #72)
  • Follow Louth Street for 11 KM. At one point, Louth Street turns into Pelham Road (Regional Road 69).
  • Continue along Pelham Road past the stop sign for 1.5 and then turn left into Short Hills Provincial Park and find parking.

    POTENTIAL WASHROOM STOP
    The closest washroom is a Tim Horton located on Louth St at the corner of St Paul St W.
