Interim COVID- 19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

  • You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
    Within the 14 days preceding the event:
    1. You have not travelled outside of Canada;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self- assessment on- line questionnaire.
  • You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet- up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.
  • You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments
  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

NOTES

  • These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.
  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

So, I've randomly picked this hike out of my personal hiking database today.

Today's hike will be on a combination of single track dirt trails, multi-use trails, which could be covered in ice and snow.

The hike will go from York Mills Station to Finch Station for an 12.5 km route.
Interesting spots include

  1. 'The Neighbourhood Of Hoggs Hollow'
  2. 'The Carscadden Greenbelt'.
  3. 'The Flood Control Pond at G. Ross Lord Park'
  4. 'The Neighbourhood Of Hoggs Hollow'

The entire hike we are climbing, but there will probably be around 3 noticeable hills on this route. Also a relatively steep downhill to start the hike.

Sadly, there won't be any washroom stops on this hike.
However, there is a washroom in the York Mills Centre, where we are meeting and at Finch Station where we are ending.

We'll aim for a pace of 4-5 km/h.

I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS A SUBWAY CLOSURE ON LINE 1 BETWEEN LAWRENCE AND ST CLAIR STATION THIS WEEKEND

    York Mills Subway Station is located on the Yonge Subway line, seven stops north of Bloor.
    We will meet on the North East corner of Yonge/York Mills.
    If its raining or cold, I'll just be inside the York Mills Centre.

    For those of you driving, there's a located just south of York Mills on the east side of Yonge Street.
