EVENT DETAILS

*************PLEASE IGNORE THE MAP, IT IS NOW WRONG, BUT THE WEBSITE WILL NOT LET ME CHANGE IT

So, I've randomly picked this urban hike out of my personal hiking database.

This 10 KM hike will both start & finish at Sheppard-Yonge Station.
Some interesting spots include

  • 'The Neighbourhood of Lansing'.
  • 'York Cemetery'.
  • 'Earl Bales Park'.
  • PACE: We'll aim for a pace of 4-5 km/h

The hike will be on a combination of sidewalks, paved paths, cemetery roads, gravel roads & single track dirt trails, which could be covered in ice / snow.

I get to make you suffer a bit today, with 4 hills of about 25 meters.

Sadly, the washrooms along this route are closed for the season, so there won't be any on the route. However, there are washrooms located in the Sheppard Centre, also within Sheppard Station.

I usually carry a pair of icers with me from the first snowfall of the year until the end of April, so I recommend having a pair in your pack to deal with any potential ice.
You can find the pair I use, 'here from Amazon'.

THERE'S A SUBWAY CLOSURE ON LINE 1 BETWEEN LAWRENCE & ST CLAIR THIS WEEKEND
ALSO LINE 2 IS NOT OPENING TILL NOON BETWEEN ST GEORGE & BROADVIEW STATION

  • How to Get There:
    Event Directions:

We'll meet on the north east side of Yonge & Sheppard, which is located just outside Sheppard-Yonge Station.

To access the meet point from the subway, please exit following the signs for the Sheppard Centre. Upon exiting the doorway, turn right and climb the stairs out to the north east corner.

For those of you driving, there's a Green P parking lot located just one block north of Sheppard and then west of Yonge Street.

Look for me in the BLUE Toronto Outdoor Club shirt, just beside the CIBC - should it be wet or cold, I'll just be inside the station doors.
