Directive From The TOC Executive

Interim COVID- 19 Rules for the Toronto Outdoor Club

  • You must meet the following four conditions to participate in any TOC events.
    Within the 14 days preceding the event:
    1. You have not travelled outside of Ontario;
    2. You don’t have any COVID-19, cold, or flu symptoms;
    3. You have not knowingly been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case;
    4. You have taken and passed the Ontario COVID-19 self- assessment on- line questionnaire.
  • You will bring a cloth mask/face covering, which you will wear during the event meet- up, plus any time during the event when the 2m social distancing is not possible.
  • You will comply with any other rules as detailed on the TOC Rules Amendments
  • You will comply with any additional rules set by the organizer of the event for which you have registered, which could be more strict than the ones detailed above.

NOTES

  • These rules are in effect immediately and until further notice.
  • YOU MUST CONFIRM IN THE "NOTES" SECTION DURING SIGN UP THAT YOU MEET ALL THE CONDITIONS LISTED IN THIS DIRECTIVE AND YOU WILL COMPLY WITH ALL THE INTERIM RULES.
    Your event coordinator has been instructed to remove your event registration without further notice if you do not take this step during your registration.
  • Your coordinator may also remove you from the event (even after it has started) if you fail to comply with the rules, and report you back to the TOC Executive.
  • If you cannot or do not wish to follow these temporary rules, please wait to sign up for any TOC events until the interim rules are lifted.

EVENT DETAILS

So, this is my first time leading this section of the Bruce Trail around Blue Mountain.

This hike will be a bit of loop and an in/out hike for about 19 KM.

Please bring a lunch and at least 1-2 Litres of water. We will find a place to stop for lunch near one of the lookouts.

  • Challenging Climbs of Note: 4 climbs of at least 25 meters and 3 of at least 50 meters.
  • Largest Ascent: 50 m

  • Highlights: A few views from the top of Blue Mountain and onto Georgian Bay.

    We'll meet at the side road parking on the north side of at 729153 Side Rd 21, Clarksburg - 44°30'47.1"N 80°22'30.6"W

    Please note that my event directions are from Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station. To change the map to options that better suit you, please click "MORE OPTIONS" link the 'Directions' map (below) and then you can add your own address into the search.

    • Travel West on Regional Road # 7 to get to Highway 400
    • Get on Highway 400 North for 67 KM
    • Take exit 96B for Dunlop Street West for 5 KM.
    • Turn right at George Johnston Road for 12 KM.
    • At the end of the road, turn left (WEST) onto highway 26 for 35 KM. Warning, highway 26 turns right at a traffic light in the town of Stayner.
    • Turn left (WEST) at the roundabout for Popular Sideroad West (county road 32) towards The Blue Mountains for 9 KM.
    • Turn right (NORTH) onto Collingwood Clearview Townline for 600 meters.
    • Turn left onto Grey County Rd 19 (WEST) for 6 KM.
    • Turn right (NORTH) onto 4 Line for 9 KM. 4 Line eventually becomes Sideroad 21.
    • Parking 729153 Sideroad 21 will be on your right.

    POTENTIAL WASHROOM STOP

    There's a Tim Hortons at north- west corner of Hwy 124 & Popular Sideroad.
