Cradled in the Caledon Hills on the ridge of the Niagara Escarpment, is Hart House Farm sitting on 150 acres land only approximately 1 hour away from Toronto. One of the highlights of the Hart House Farm experience - well, the reason for this event actually - is the amazing Finnish-style log sauna (wood-heated) sauna adjacent some scenic spring-fed pond that makes for a refreshing dip. What better way to enjoy the colder weather than to enjoy the heat and steam of an outdoor sauna sitting at the edge of spring-fed pond that makes for an invigorating dip to quickly cool off. Also available is a fully equipped kitchen (you will have to wash your own dishes if you use them), central heating, washrooms, a piano and a cozy fireplace set in a rustic house. Bring your own sleeping bag and find a spot in the guest bunks. Or enjoy the outdoors and pitch a tent if you'd like to brave the cold. A Virtual Tour of the farm is available. There are no restaurants or grocery stores near or at the farm and we would have to bring our own food, drinks and alcohol. We plan to be there for lunch time, so please be prepared with your own lunch. You can then feel free to explore the grounds and there are some nice trails and caves to see. For dinner we will be doing a potluck by the sauna that will be coordinated over email. We'll cook a breakfast/brunch in the morning and plan to leave the farm around 11:00 on Sunday. People are welcome to split off to do an optional hike in Forks of the Credit Provincial Park near the farm (not as a part of this TOC event), or depart back to Toronto. We suggest those who are interested in a hike bring some additional snacks or a lunch. Visitors must participate Work Project lasting no more than 2 hours. It is likely that we'll end up carrying wood to the Sauna, but other chores may include shovelling snow, sweeping, clearing brush, etc. If you have a serious disability, exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case consideration. | |||||||
