CELEBRATE WINTER IN ALGONQUIN!

OVERVIEW Woohoo late winter in Algonquin - it will be spectacular! There will still be plenty of snow but the daytime temps will be hovering around zero. You could be hiking/skiing or snowshoeing in a tshirt! Plus there is a sauna. We will be staying at the Wolfden It's a favourite spot for the Toronto Outdoor Club, a fantastic hostel/eco lodge on the outskirts of Algonquin park. There are cosy bunkrooms and a large shared kitchen and communal areas. We have the whole place to ourselves for the weekend. DATE, TIME, AND COST We'll travel up Friday
afternoon/evening and
return on Sunday. I'll
try to sort out a carpool that
will
attempt to accommodate
people's individual schedules,
bearing in mind that Friday's
departure times will depend on
the
available drivers and that
the official leaving time
is 5:00pm. Priority
will go to
people with good
attendance records! The per person cost for the weekend's accommodation works out to approximately $75.00 (which includes a 3% TOC transaction fee). This cost is due up front by paying the TOC's Treasurer. Payment must be received by Dec 4th or you will be removed from the event. After that, anyone who hasn't paid will be removed and places will go to people on the waiting list based on who's paid first. . Expect an additional cost on top of that for carpool and Park fees (approximately $16 per car). You will need to pay for that over the weekend so please bring cash. (Small bills help a lot!) ACCOMMODATIONS There are several rooms available both in the main lodge and in the satellite cabins. Expect to share a room with 3-4 others (I'll try to help guide early risers to match with early risers to keep things copacetic, but there are no guarantees.) There is a private room with a double bed available. Any two people who wish to take advantage of this may request them from me: the first to request AND PAY, will get it. Confirm with me before paying that you're first in line for the room. Communal bathrooms and showers are available in the main lodge. Bedding and towels are provided. ACTIVITIES While there are hiking/snowshoe trails within a short walk of the Wolfden (not to mention a great waterfall) we're right on Algonquin's doorstep! With this many people, there will be multiple groups heading out both days so there should be various levels of hikers to suit everyone. I will not be organizing any specific hikes or activities, you are free to decide what you want to do in collaboration with other participants. For those who like photo hikes, I will be bringing my camera. In the evenings expect a social atmosphere upstairs in the loft talking or playing games, and in all likelihood, a campfire outside. And woohoo there is a sauna :) Previous years we have had a guided beer tasting - you are welcome to participate if you want. I will be sending out a survey closer to the date regarding carpool, sleeping and food. FOOD The Wolfden has a large, fully equipped kitchen available for our use. Saturday evening we'll organize an (optional) potluck dinner. There are usually options for veggies and celiacs, however, please include info on any special dietary needs in the Notes when you sign up. Beyond that, meal planning will be up to each of you. (You may wish to look for like minded people on the trip or in your carpool. We can help here.) Please bear in mind that you are responsible for clearing, washing and reshelving whatever dishes you use. | |

- If extra drivers are needed, they'll get priority.

- People with good attendance records will get priority!
- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the TOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with full refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where TOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refund of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in TOC events.

Cost includes: accommodation for two nights at the Wolf Den Bunkhouse and Cabins near Oxtongue Lake and the 3% transaction fee. Not included in this amount are costs for food, Algonquin Park permit ($16/car/day), equipment rental (if desired) and carpool expenses. Thanks for the enthusiasm, however, no payments can be processed before registration opens. ALL PAYMENTS ARE FINAL UNLESS THERE IS SOMEONE SUITABLE TO TAKE YOUR PLACE.Suggested donation amount for this event is: $2.00/Person.
