A 15K! I thought it 'd be fun to try something new with a small group run. What better way to gear up for the weekend than to get your Rocky Balboa on with a big run through the city streets! ;) Pace and distance: The distance is 15 kilometres, continuous - only stopping when required for red lights at crossings, etc. We'll aim for a good pace, around 5 minutes per kilometre. If you can run 10 to 15km comfortably at a similar pace, then you should be fine. I'm trying to build up my distance to 15k and further, and I thought some other TOC members may have a similar goal. Route: We will start in Little Italy at College/Grace, heading down quieter streets towards the Lakeshore, then joining the boulevard on the running/cycle track. We'll head west for a few kilometres and eventually cross over the highway by the bridge, looping back via King West through Parkdale and back up by Trinity Bellwoods back to Little Italy to complete a 15km run. This is one of my favourite routes - I run this on a 10/12k regularly, and I'll make this 15 by going a little further west a couple clicks further towards Ikealand (Etobicoke ;)) Check out the image above for a preview of the route. Cool down stretches, and possible drinks once we finish!Hydration is important! I prefer to load up with water before the run, but if you like to carry water with you while you run then make sure you bring it. Event Directions: | Meet at the intersection of College/Grace in Little Italy. Meet by the benches at the corner of College St at Grace, on the south-west side of the street. The nearest major intersection is College and Bathurst - easily accessible by TTC with streetcars on College. | ||||||
