About "Big Creek":

Situated near the town of Port Rowan, Norfolk County, Southern Ontario; Big Creek is Canada’s Southern-most canoe route. Winding through lush, rare Carolinian Forest, this small deep river is known as Canada’s Amazon. It feels like a southern rain forest as its deep water twists by thick Carolinian Forest with towering Cottonwood, Sycamores & gnarled Black Willows rising out of the water.

About this event:

We'll meet at the outfitter's shop in picturesque Paris, then shuttle 1hr. south to our destination. Our paddle is approx. 5 hrs(18 km), includes time to stop for shore lunch. Paddling Big Creek feels like the Amazon, with deep, slow moving water, flowing under a canopy of trees that looks like a southern rain forest. A very intimate paddle this narrow winding river flows through the a remote little known area in southern Ontario including Big Creek National Wildlife and Long Point World Biosphere. Overhanging rare Carolinian Trees tower over the depths of the waters, giving this special place an exotic mangrove aura.

We'll be having a social pub/restaurant gathering in Paris - just across from the outfitter's shop - after the paddle. Optional shopping, cafe visits, scenic walks by the river is available and in walking distance in the town of Paris.

This event is co-hosted and will be guided by GRAND EXPERIENCES.

Grand Experiences is one of the leading canoe & kayak training centers in Southern Ontario. They work with schools, scouts & guides, corporate groups & individuals to provide canoe, river kayak & sea kayak training. They are fully insured on the road and the water.
