Itinerary: | |||||||
We had a wonderful time here last summer, riding along roads with little traffic and beautiful views. And so we decided to return.
While we have yet to finalize our bike routes, we may spend one day riding to and from Sauble Beach – about 70 kms round trip, with nice swim when we get to the beach. On another day we may bike along the shores of Big Bay near Owen Sound and cover at least 60 km. Will also probably spend a day riding in the area north of Sauble Falls along the west side of the Bruce Peninsula. Please do not sign up if you cannot cover at 70kms on three consecutive days of cycling. This is not the trip for you if you have not ridden at least a couple of 50km rides this season. To cut down on food prep time we will probably be eating in restaurants quite a bit. In any case, we plan to eat quite well on this trip. And so you can think of it as a modified Triathlon, including cycling, swimming/wading and eating! However, the emphasis will be on cycling. We will be camping at the KOA near Owen Sound, where I have booked two electrical sights. We stayed here last year. While sights are small, they were quiet and functional We will have a mandatory pre-meeting for this trip to be held at Chaukers Pub (247 Marlee Avenue) on Mon June 25 at 7pm . At this meeting we will discuss food (sharing and prep), carpools, who has what camping equipment (tents, stoves, coolers etc...) and tent arrangements. Now for some important questions: (for your own ease simply copy and paste the questions into the Notes section and type in your answers when you sign up).
1. When can you leave on Friday afternoon? - 2pm or earlier would be great. But I realize not everybody can get the time off.
If you have not ridden with me before, you MUST answer in the affirmative the following questions in the notes sections of the sign up page: Promo photo was taken by P199 and was found in a Wikipedia article on Big Bay, Ontario. It has a creative commons license. | |||||||
