Itinerary: | |||||||
In my quest to find different and varied terrain than the usual Bruce Trail, I picked up this hike in Southwestern Ontario - it's a bit of a drive - 2+ hours, but that's what carpools are for! The Backus woods is Carolinian forests with plenty of wetland, although by this date we shouldn't encounter mosquitos. This hike takes us through the Backus Heritage Village which consists of a few refurbished cabins. More information can be found on the Toronto Hiking website. Hike will be at a moderate pace and the terrain is rated beginner to intermediate. Expect to hike for at least 4 hrs with only one break. | |||||||
